Feeling helpless when circumstances are beyond our control is natural. More than likely David wrote this psalm as a testimony to what he had seen in his own life. David knew that God was his source of help. He had been through many trials even as a young shepherd protecting his sheep, his battle with Goliath and his fleeing into the wilderness when Saul wanted him dead. Facing discouragement and failure is a part of being human. Whether you are currently in that situation or will be in the future, this verse is filled with hope. His compassion will never fail. The God of the universe, the one who created all that's seen and unseen, the God who created you and knows you intimately, never fails, His compassions( mercies) are new every morning, great is His faithfulness. Though Jeremiah had reason to lament for a people in captivity and for himself, he never lost hope, because He knew and trusted the God of hope, the God of mercy. In Christ we are afforded a new lease on life. God in His infinite mercy made a way through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, to put our past sins behind us. Im sure when Paul wrote this he couldn’t help but feel an enormous sense of gratitude that his past life of persecuting and imprisoning christians was no longer held against him. In Christ he had been made new, he had been forgiven. This is the wonder of the cross and a great reason to praise and thank Him, because we like Paul, if we have accepted Christ as our Savior, have been forgiven and made new. Our past sins were nailed to the cross. We have passed from darkness to light. Remember today no matter what your circumstances, choose praise. God bless and….
